Night vision capability is a huge jump from my original Gen1 unit. You get a good quality b/w image and with the adjustable three step ir illuminator, you can see very far. I’ve tested it up to 150’ and get good results. I think I might use the 1/4×20 threads to attach an extra illuminator to increase the night vision capabilities. Overall, just buy this Apexel unit. It’s consistently the least expensive one on Aliexpress. Quality is great, not military grade, but for the price it’s not going to be. It’s easy to use, even my six year old granddaughter can use it. Again, I want to thank Apexel for the chance to review this item which will be my go to night vision set now.

To enable night vision, you just tap the “IR” button and voila! There are three different levels of brightness to choose from so that ‘s pretty cool. Overall, I’m pretty happy with the purchase. This will come in handy when I go camping or when I’m trying to sneak down the stairs to watch TV without turning on the lights and waking my children. haha.I posted some shots of my bunny in night vision mode. There is one where night vision mode is off.

My mind was blown as to what this thing can see in the dark. Even without the IR on, it managed to see more than my rx100v. When cranked to IR-1, the difference is night and day. This can go up to IR-3 but IR-1 was pretty sufficient. The quality of the recorded image looks pretty crisp when focused correctly. Keep in mind that this device doesn’t have autofocus and has a focus ring from 3m – infinity. If viewing close subjects, keep it at 3m. The photos coming out from this thing is OK, but you gotta remember, this is a sub 200 dollar device and not a sony a7s3. I had minor issues with this product but they were things one could easily adjust too. For the value, It can’t be beat at this time. Highly recommended awesome product! Can’t wait to go camping with it.

To operate it takes 8 AA size batteries which not included, I have used my own rechargeable batteries.Menu very user friendly and easy to operate. It allows me take pictures and videos directly to memory card while enjoying the view.Infrared light need to be adjusted depending the distance zoomed as otherwise I has getting very bright circle. Once adjusted it was much better. So far very happy with you purchase .
